Governance

Governance Infrastructure

The governance infrastructure will be handled with a combination of Gnosis Safe and Snapshot. Gnosis Safe, a multi-signature wallet protocol, will manage on-chain transactions by the Council which will require a 2/3rds majority signature for execution. Snapshot, a white-label governance protocol, will govern off-chain voting conducted by community members and representatives. Proposals that pass will be executed on-chain by the Council through Gnosis Safe.

Governance Token

The BLKD token (and sBLKD, the staked equivalent) is the governance token for the Black DAO ecosystem of funds. Token holders will participate in decisions regarding funds within the ecosystem, including the operation of the DAO, the BLK.Finance protocol, Treasury allocations, and the governance of related projects. In return for contributions from the community, funds may configure a distribution of capital or profits to contributing representatives or BLKD holders participating in staking incentives.

Permissioned Token Hierarchy

BLKD holders can be granted different tiers within the DAO dependent on the number of tokens that are held and their contributions to the ecosystem. Members - BLKD Token Holders.

  • Vote on proposals regarding operations of the DAO governance parameters, tokenomics, and other proposals.

Representatives - BLKD Token Holders who have acquired at least 10 BLKD tokens or are regular contributors to the ecosystem.

  • Vote on proposals regarding operations of the DAO governance parameters, tokenomics, and other proposals.

  • Submit proposals regarding operations of the DAO, governance parameters, tokenomics, and other proposals.**

Initial tokens will be permanently locked in a SushiSwap Liquidity Pool (SLPs) on the Ethereum Mainnet.

**The submissions must be sponsored by a representative of the Council within two weeks of submission. This is too avoid economic subversion * See Tokenomics for more information.
